Hi, we're Mike and Jamie Poynter.

I, Mike Poynter, have been shooting weddings since 2003 so I guess I would still be considered the new guy on the block. Jamie began as an assistant to me during larger weddings however now she is doing weddings on her own as well as children's photography.

Though I have only been shooting weddings for 3 years my interest in photography goes back much further. All my life I always enjoyed having my camera with me. There has always been that thrill of getting a good photo.

I pride myself in giving you what you want in a wedding photographer and presenting you with photo memories you will remember for a lifetime. It is my goal to help make your wedding day less stressful with my laid-back personality and sense of humor. Whether they admit it or not, every couple is nervous on their wedding day. Fighter pilots, school teachers, construction workers, lawyers, reporters or any other person out there will be at least a little nervous. I want you to relax when it comes to the photography. I'll give you 100% everytime and treat your wedding with the care I would my own. Jamie and I had a bad experience with photography when we got married so we go that extra mile to give you what we wished we had on our own wedding day.

Our style is to capture those special moments quickly yet unobtrusively, allowing us to create photographs that will be cherished from generation to generation. I say us because I view the wedding party or the individual I am photographing as a team. You are all the magic behind all the photos. Jamie and I simply capture you in a moment that you will have forever.

With weddings and events we use a mixture of traditional and photojournalist photography. If you are having a semi-formal wedding/event you probably should look for a photographer who has a balance of both traditional and photojournalist styles. That way the photographer can capture the light-hearted moments while still creating that elegant feel with traditional classical photography. Yes, some posed shots are necessary since at weddings you have to have the family shots. We also use the photojournalistic approach which means we cover a wedding or event similar to how a magazine photographer would cover any other event--by observing and recording the highlights. Some people call this a war photographer since we get out in the action and capture it all. This is in contrast to the 'traditional' photographer who attempts to make a perfect portrait from each shot. The photojournalist approach basically captures the true emotion of the day. You and your guest will have your photos taken without even realizing it. We have even photographed entire weddings using the photojournalist approach.

The photographic equipment used is not your usual 35mm point and shoot systems or your automatic everyday cameras. Mike uses a full frame Canon 5D SLR Digital with quality lens and a Canon Speedlite 550EX flash along with other special pieces of equipment. It is important to have the proper equipment for the job. In case of an equipment malfunction backup equipment is always brought along. My backup camera is a Canon Rebel 300D which can use the same exact lens and flash as my Canon 5D. Jamie uses a Canon 30D SLR Digital camera, quality lens and a Canon Speedlite 430EX Flash.

Everyone from all the weddings we have done have been great. We enjoy hearing from everyone after they receive their albums and photos. We want everyone to be happy with their photos! It thrills us to hear from the happy couples each and every time. It's amazing how many of my clients we have run into at Home Depot or Wal Mart!
